Case Scenario
Read the following case scenario before developing your initial post:
A 57-year-old female patient comes into the clinic for a yearly physical exam. Blood pressure is 158/86. Resting pulse is 82 bpm. Her weight is 212 lbs. Height is 5’4”. BMI 36. As the family nurse practitioner who is seeing her today, you decide to draw a lipid panel because her cholesterol has never been checked. The lab results show total cholesterol as 283, HDL as 34, LDL as 190, triglycerides as 230.
Initial Post
Respond to the following questions as they pertain to the presented patient. Be sure to give rationales for your plan and support your decisions using reliable resources.
1. How would you interpret these lab results?
2. What would your treatment plan be?
3. What education would you provide to the patient?
4. When would you re-evaluate lipids again?
